Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About urology
Mrs. Rubina Akter has been diagnosed with a left-sided upper ureteric stone, which means a stone has formed in the upper part of the tube (ureter) that carries urine from the left kidney to the bladder. This condition can cause severe pain in the side of the abdomen, difficulty passing urine, burning during urination, and urinary obstruction. The stone may block the normal flow of urine, leading to swelling of the kidney, recurrent urinary tract infections, and worsening pain. Without proper treatment, the condition can result in serious complications, including kidney damage and long-term impairment of kidney function.
Thank you for saving this life!

Background
Rubina Akter is a 17-year-old girl who lives with her widowed mother and three sisters in a small mud-built house with a tin roof. After the death of her father, the family became fully dependent on the income of her two elder sisters, who work in garment factories and earn a combined monthly income of only BDT 10,000, making it difficult to meet even basic household expenses. Despite these hardships, Rubina is a polite, resilient, and hopeful young girl who dreams of building a better future for herself and her family. She has been suffering from severe pain, difficulty in urination, and burning sensations due to a left-sided upper ureteric stone, which has significantly affected her daily life and well-being. Without timely surgical treatment, the stone may cause severe infection, kidney damage, persistent urinary obstruction, and unbearable pain, potentially leading to serious long-term health complications. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach program conducted by Mr. Anwar Hossain Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy.
Medical history
Rubina Akter was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center on 25 April 2026 with severe pain and urinary problems caused by a left-sided upper ureteric stone. On 26 April 2026, she successfully underwent Open Ureterolithotomy surgery, during which the obstructing stone was removed, relieving the blockage and helping restore normal urinary function. Following surgery, she received postoperative care, medications, and close monitoring, and her condition improved steadily without complications. After four days of treatment and recovery, she was discharged on 29 April 2026 in stable condition with significant relief from her symptoms. Rubina and her family express their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, volunteers Mr. Anwar Hossain Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy, and the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff of Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center for their generous support, compassionate care, and commitment to helping her regain her health and hope for the future.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctors, Open Ureterolithotomy offers an excellent chance of completely removing the ureteric stone and relieving the obstruction in Rubina’s urinary tract. The surgery is expected to eliminate her pain, improve urine flow, prevent recurrent urinary infections, and protect her kidney from further damage. Following successful treatment and recovery, she should be able to return to her normal daily activities and enjoy a healthier life without the ongoing discomfort caused by the stone. However, if the condition is left untreated, the stone may continue to block the flow of urine, leading to severe pain, repeated infections, kidney swelling (hydronephrosis), and progressive loss of kidney function. In severe cases, prolonged obstruction and infection can cause permanent kidney damage, life-threatening infection (urosepsis), and serious complications that may require more extensive medical intervention.
