About pregnancy
The patient is a 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant woman, gravida 1, who presented with breech presentation, a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its bottom or feet pointing downward instead of the usual head-down position. Due to this complication, the fetus may develop fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.

Background
Lazina Khatun is a calm and caring 18-year-old pregnant woman who dreams of giving her future child a safe and healthy life. She lives with her husband and elderly in-laws in a fragile home where her husband, Rayhan Ali, struggles to support the family by driving an auto rickshaw and earning only around 6,000 BDT per month, making medical treatment very difficult for them. During her first pregnancy, she developed severe lower abdominal pain, weakness, discomfort, and sleepless nights, causing deep fear and anxiety for the whole family. After learning about Helpster Charity through another beneficiary, the family brought her to New Evercare Hospital where doctors found that her baby is in a risky breech position. Without proper treatment and safe delivery care, both the mother and unborn baby could face serious and life-threatening complications during childbirth.
Medical history
Lazina Khatun was admitted to the hospital on 01.05.2026 with a 39-week and 3-day pregnancy complicated by a breech presentation. She underwent a successful LUCS on the same day under the supervision of Dr. Nahid Akter, Surgeon, and Dr. Anik, Anaesthetist. The baby was delivered safely, and both mother and newborn received proper medical management, continuous postoperative monitoring, and attentive nursing care. Their condition improved steadily, and they recovered well. As they remained stable and free from complications, both were discharged in good health on 04.05.2026.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for her is LUCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment, while the mother may also face life-threatening infections or complications.
