Abdul Karim has been diagnosed with Enteric Fever, a serious bacterial infection that caused high fever, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and extreme weakness. He had been suffering from these symptoms for about two weeks, and his condition gradually became more severe, making him unable to eat properly or continue his normal daily activities. Due to the prolonged high fever and ongoing illness, he became very weak and required urgent hospitalization and close medical care. He is currently under treatment and observation to control the infection, reduce his fever and pain, and prevent life-threatening complications that could affect his intestines and overall health.

Background
Abdul Karim is a gentle and hardworking 9-year-old boy from Geneva Camp, Dhaka, who loves spending time with his sisters Anya and Sonia and dreams of continuing his studies for a brighter future. He lives with his parents and siblings in a small overcrowded shelter where his father struggles to support the five-member family by working as a day laborer earning only around 9,000 BDT per month, leaving no savings for costly hospital treatment and medicines after managing food and rent. Abdul’s high fever, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and weakness have made him unable to eat properly, attend school, or enjoy a normal childhood, causing deep fear and anxiety for his mother Resma Akter and the entire family. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity in Geneva Camp, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Doctors have warned that without urgent treatment and close medical care, the severe infection may spread further, causing dehydration, serious complications affecting his intestines and other organs, and potentially life-threatening illness.
Medical history
Abdul Karim was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on May 4, 2026, at 7:12 PM after suffering from a debilitating high fever and severe pain for two weeks. During his eight-day stay, he received life-saving conservative treatment, including IV fluids and injectable antibiotics, to combat the Enteric Fever that had left him dangerously weak. By the time of his discharge on May 12, 2026, his condition had stabilized, allowing him to return home to Geneva Camp with a clear recovery plan. Now, with the support of essential post-hospitalization medicine, Abdul is finally regaining his strength and the chance to simply be a child again.
Prognosis
According to the doctors, Abdul Karim urgently needs hospitalization, parenteral antibiotics, IV fluids, and supportive treatment to control the severe infection and reduce his high fever, abdominal pain, and weakness. With timely treatment and close medical monitoring, his condition is expected to improve gradually, helping him regain strength and return to his normal studies and childhood activities. Doctors are carefully observing him to prevent the infection from spreading further and causing serious complications. However, if Abdul does not receive proper treatment on time, the infection may severely damage his intestines and other organs, cause dehydration, severe weakness, and potentially become life-threatening.
