Shihab Hossain is a gentle and brave 10-year-old boy who lives with his parents and younger sister in a small overcrowded shelter in Krishi Market Camp, where poverty and poor living conditions make daily life extremely difficult. His father, Md. Munna, works as a daily wage laborer with a very limited income that is barely enough to provide food and basic necessities for the family, leaving no ability to afford urgent medical treatment. Shihab was born with a deformity of his outer right ear, and recently he developed a severe painful swelling and infection near the ear that gradually became red, swollen, and filled with pus, causing intense suffering and fear for the family. Doctors at Al-Manar Hospital diagnosed him with congenital right auricular agenesis with a pre-auricular abscess, a condition that requires urgent treatment and close medical care. Without proper treatment, the infection could spread further and become life-threatening, but the family found hope after learning about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach program in Geneva Camp.

Shihab Hossain was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on May 4, 2026, at 06:20 PM to treat a severe, painful pre-auricular abscess complicating his congenital right outer ear deformity. During his five-day hospital stay, he received immediate clinical intervention, including a surgical incision and drainage procedure alongside targeted intravenous antibiotics and pain management to resolve the acute infection. Thanks to this comprehensive care, his severe earache and purulent discharge were successfully controlled, allowing him to be safely discharged in stable condition on May 9, 2026. He is currently finishing his prescribed oral medication course at home and is well on his way to a full recovery, completely free from the intense physical suffering that had disrupted his young life.

According to the doctors, Shihab Hossain requires incision and drainage of the abscess, daily dressing, IV antibiotics, pain management, and later reconstructive surgery for his congenital ear deformity. With proper treatment and close medical care, the infection, swelling, pain, and pus discharge are expected to improve gradually, helping him recover safely and prevent further damage around the affected area. Doctors believe that future reconstructive surgery may also improve his appearance and overall confidence.
