Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About nervous system

Humaira Islam, a 4-month-old baby girl, has been diagnosed with multifocal epilepsy, a serious neurological condition causing repeated seizures several times a day. Since the age of one month, she has been suffering from frequent convulsions along with feeding difficulties, weakness, and developmental complications. Due to neurological problems after delayed crying at birth, she also developed diminished vision and hearing impairment, making her condition more critical and life-threatening. She is currently under close medical observation and requires urgent long-term treatment and regular neurological care to control the seizures and prevent further brain damage and developmental complications.

Background

Humaira Islam is a gentle and fragile 4-month-old baby girl from a remote rural area of Bangladesh who has been fighting severe epilepsy since she was only one month old. She lives with her parents, elderly grandparents, and two uncles in a financially struggling family where her father earns only around 7,000 BDT per month working at a poultry farm, while the rest of the family members also struggle to support the household with very limited income. Humaira’s repeated seizures, feeding difficulties, poor vision, and hearing problems have left her extremely vulnerable and have caused constant fear and sleepless nights for her parents and grandparents, who are unable to afford the costly medicines, neurological treatment, and regular medical follow-up she urgently needs. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through Helpster volunteer ABM Alamgir. Doctors have warned that without proper treatment and continuous medical care, her seizures may become more severe, causing permanent brain damage, worsening vision and hearing loss, delayed development, and potentially life-threatening complications.

Medical history

Humaira Islam, a 4-month-old baby girl from a very poor rural family, was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 05-05-2026 with repeated convulsions, low-grade fever, feeding difficulties, and severe neurological complications. After detailed examinations and careful observation, doctors diagnosed her with Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS) and started intensive treatment with anticonvulsant medications and supportive care. During her hospital stay, the medical team closely monitored her condition, and gradually the frequency of her seizures became more controlled and her overall condition improved. Although she still requires long-term treatment and regular follow-up, Humaira showed signs of recovery and became stable enough to be discharged from the hospital on 13-05-2026. Her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, hospital staff, and kind supporters who stood beside them during this difficult time.

Prognosis

According to the doctors, Humaira Islam urgently needs hospital admission, treatment to control her seizures and fever, strong antibiotics, and specialized brain investigations such as CT scan and LP to assess possible brain damage. With proper treatment and close neurological care, her seizures may become more controlled, helping improve her feeding, comfort, and overall development while reducing the risk of further complications. Doctors are carefully monitoring her condition to protect her brain and support her growth as much as possible. However, if she does not receive proper treatment on time, the repeated seizures may cause permanent brain damage, worsening vision and hearing problems, severe developmental delay, life-threatening infections, and other serious complications.
