Farjana is a 35 weeks and 3 days pregnant woman, gravida 1, who presented with breech presentation, a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its bottom or feet pointing downward instead of the usual head-down position. Due to this complication, the fetus may develop fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.

Background
Farjana Khatun is a polite, hardworking, and hopeful 18-year-old pregnant woman who dreams of building a safe home and welcoming a healthy baby into her family. She lives in fragile conditions with her husband, Md. Farhad, and elderly in-laws, while her husband struggles to support the family with a very limited income as a day laborer. During the final stage of her first pregnancy, Farjana developed severe lower abdominal pain, discomfort, weakness, and abdominal hardening, causing great fear and anxiety for the family when her condition did not improve after treatment at the Upazila Health Complex. Doctors at New Evercare Hospital later diagnosed her with breech presentation, a risky condition that requires close monitoring and proper medical care to protect both mother and unborn child. Without timely treatment and safe delivery management, serious complications could arise that may become life-threatening for both Farjana and her baby, but the family is unable to afford the medical expenses and learned about Helpster Charity through community outreach.
Medical history
Farjana Akter was admitted on 03.04.2026 at 35 weeks and 3 days of pregnancy with a diagnosis of breech presentation. On the same day, she underwent LUCS to ensure the safe delivery of her baby. The operation was successful, and the baby was delivered safely. Following the surgery, she received appropriate medical management, including pain control, antibiotics, intravenous fluids, and close monitoring of her vital signs and recovery status. Proper nursing care, along with nutritional support and post-operative guidance, played an important role in her recovery. Gradually, her condition improved, and both mother and baby remained stable and healthy. She was discharged on 06.04.2026 in a safe and stable condition, with advice for follow-up and continued care at home.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for Farjana Akter is LUCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment, while the mother may also face life-threatening infections or complications.
