Nusaiba Akter is a gentle and innocent 7-month-old baby girl who lives with her six-member family in a small and crowded shelter in Mirpur, Dhaka. Her father works as a daily wage laborer and earns only around 8,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to manage household expenses, making it impossible for the family to afford costly intensive medical treatment. When Nusaiba developed severe pneumonia with repeated fever-related convulsions and breathing difficulty after suffering from fever, cough, and cold, her terrified family rushed from one hospital to another seeking urgent care. As her condition worsened with low oxygen level and respiratory distress, she required emergency intensive treatment and close monitoring to save her life. Without proper PICU care, oxygen support, and continuous treatment, her condition could become life-threatening, but the family found hope after journalist Md. Rupuk Ahmed connected them with Helpster Charity for emergency medical assistance.

For eight days, the medical team worked tirelessly to stabilize her from severe pneumonia, measles complications, and repeated seizures. Tragically, the illness proved too heavy for her fragile system, and little Nusaiba passed away from a cardio-respiratory arrest on May 16, 2026. While this is a heartbreaking outcome, your kindness ensured she did not suffer without help, giving her grieving family the profound comfort of knowing everything humanly possible was done to save their precious daughter.

Associate Prof. Dr. Kuntal Roy at Olympus Hospital, advised that immediate private PICU admission, advanced respiratory ventilation, and intensive antibiotic coverage were absolutely critical to saving the child's life. The clinical prognosis dictated that leaving her untreated would allow the aggressive severe pneumonia and measles syndrome to cause rapid fatal asphyxiation and uncontrolled brain injury from repeated seizures. While this advanced medical intervention was aggressively implemented to give her the only viable chance at recovery and a healthy future, the systemic complications unfortunately became too severe. Despite the medical team's maximum efforts within the intensive care unit, the illness tragically overwhelmed her body, leading to a fatal cardio-respiratory arrest.
