Pamela A., 7

Pamela is a 10-year-old girl who is jovial, loving, and ambitious. She enjoys singing and dancing and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Pamela lives with her grandmother in a single-room mud-walled house without electricity. Her grandmother depends on small-scale farming, while Pamela’s mother, the sole breadwinner and single parent, is often away doing casual “jua kali” jobs to support the family. Due to financial hardship, the family struggles to meet basic needs and access healthcare services. According to her grandmother, Pamela had been unwell for nearly three days and was even sent home from school because of chest pain. Upon arrival at the hospital, she was found to have fever, cough, headache, generalized body pains, and difficulty breathing. The family had come to the facility without money for treatment. While at the hospital, a staff member informed them about Helpster Charity and the support it provides to vulnerable patients in need of medical care.

PAMELA WAS MANAGED WITH ANTIPYRETICS, ANTIBIOTIS AND OTHER DRUGS AS PER MEDICAL REPORT, A COMBINATION THAT SHE RESPONDED SO WELL TO AND STABILIZED. SHE WAS THEN DISCHARGED HOME ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TO CONTINUE AT HOME.

Pamela presented with fever, cough, chest pain, body weakness, headache, and difficulty breathing. Clinical evaluation confirmed severe pneumonia requiring urgent treatment and close monitoring. Due to delayed access to care caused by financial challenges, her condition had worsened before presentation. She was started on antibiotics, supportive therapy, and monitoring in the health facility. Pamela is respondeding well to treatment, with gradual improvement in breathing and general condition. Prognosis is good
