Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
A perineal abscess is a localized collection of pus that develops in the tissue between the genital area and the anus due to infection. It commonly presents with severe pain, swelling, redness, and warmth around the affected region. Patients may also experience fever, difficulty sitting or walking, and general body weakness. The condition usually occurs when bacteria invade blocked glands or damaged skin in the perineal area. The Diagnosis is mainly based on clinical examination, and treatment often involves surgical drainage of the pus together with antibiotics and proper wound care.
Background
Abubakar is a hardworking 17-year-old student from an underprivileged family. He helps his parents in daily chores and sometimes assists with small trading activities. He is respectful and ambitious, with dreams of becoming a businessman. His illness has limited his mobility and participation in school activities. Parents are low income earners making only 25,000 per month. Abubakar noticed swelling and pain around the perineal area several days before seeking medical attention. The swelling became larger, red, and extremely painful, making it difficult for him to sit or walk comfortably. He was presented to another healthcare facility and advised for incision and drainage but could not afford the cost of treatment. His family sought Helpster Charity Foundation assistance because they could not afford surgery and hospital care. At UMD, he was diagnosed to have Perineal abscess requiring Incision and Drainage, with wound dressing and antibiotics.
Prognosis
Abubakar was evaluated and diagnosed with a perineal abscess that requires urgent surgical treatment through Incision and Drainage. He presented with pain, swelling, and signs of infection in the perineal region, causing significant discomfort and distress. Incision and drainage will help remove the accumulated pus, control the infection, and relieve his symptoms. He is expected to respond well to treatment with appropriate antibiotics, pain management, and wound care after the procedure. With timely intervention, his recovery prognosis is good, and his overall wellbeing is expected to improve significantly and bring comfort and relief to his parents.
