The patient is a 36 weeks pregnant woman, gravida 2, para 1, who presented with breech presentation, a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its bottom or feet pointing downward instead of the usual head-down position. Due to this complication, the fetus may develop fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.

Background
Luna Akter Rina is a hardworking and caring 24-year-old pregnant woman who dreams of raising her children as honest and successful people. She lives with her husband, young daughter Mijana, and elderly in-laws in a fragile home where her husband, Moynul Islam, earns only around 6,000 BDT per month as a day laborer, making it impossible to manage emergency medical expenses. During her pregnancy, she developed severe lower abdominal pain, weakness, and discomfort, and even after treatment at the Upazila Health Complex her condition did not improve. Later, doctors at New Evercare Hospital found that her baby is in a risky breech position, causing deep fear and anxiety for the whole family. Without proper treatment and safe delivery care, both the mother and unborn baby could face serious and life-threatening complications during childbirth.
Medical history
Luna Akter Rina was admitted on 24.05.2026 with a 36-week pregnancy complicated by a breech presentation. Considering the risk to both the mother and the baby, a LUCS was performed on the same day. The operation was successful, and she safely delivered a healthy baby. Following the surgery, she received proper medical treatment, continuous monitoring, and attentive nursing care, which ensured a smooth recovery. As her condition improved steadily, both the mother and the baby remained stable and were discharged in good health on 27.05.2026.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for Luna Akter Rina is LUCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life.
