Aisha is an 8yo child currently staying with her parents and siblings. She attends a government primary school. Aisha is smart amongst her peers, always seen with her mother. The father is a laborer and the mother is a house wife. They live in a 2 rooms apartment with a pit toilet, a well in the compound, no access to electricity with 10000 as their monthly income. Aisha is an 8yo female girl who presented with complaints of fever which is high grade, vomiting everything, frequent urination, cough(dry), rhinorrhea, watery stool and dysuria. Patient’s illness started about one week ago with high grade fever, vomiting everything on the background of chronic dry cough associated with runny nose. Her condition became worse with passage of greenish watery stools and weight loss. Mother noticed painful urination. She also has very poor appetite. Examination revealed a very sick 8yo female child, conscious but lethargic, febrile++, unicteric, acyanosed and dyspneic. Patient was diagnosed with severe Malaria, Anemia and severe LRTI. The mother could not pay the medical bills that is why they contacted Helpster Charity for assistance.

Her condition became worse with passage of greenish watery stools and weight loss. Mother noticed painful urination. She also has very poor appetite. Examination revealed a very sick 8yo female child, conscious but lethargic, febrile++, unicteric, acyanosed and dyspneic. Patient was diagnosed with severe Malaria, Anemia and severe LRTI. Patient’s treatment continued with injection antimalarials, injection antibiotics, some cough syrup and other supportive care until stable, she was discharged home to continue treatment with some drugs. The family are so happy and returned gratitude to Helpster Charity and the entire team.

Aisha is critically ill with severe malaria, severe lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), and anemia requiring urgent medical management and close monitoring. Severe malaria and lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) can trigger life-threatening respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and multi-organ shutdown or sepsis. Additionally, severe anemia deprives vital tissues of oxygen, leading to extreme heart strain, heart failure, and potential cerebrovascular complications like strokes. Prognosis depends on the severity of infection, response to treatment, nutritional status, and timing of intervention. With prompt treatment including antimalarial drugs, antibiotics, oxygen support, fluids, and correction of anemia, recovery is possible, although complications may occur if treatment is delayed.
