Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About urology

Urethral Stricture is a condition where scar tissue causes narrowing of the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body. This narrowing can obstruct urine flow, causing painful urination, urinary retention, recurrent infections, and bladder complications if left untreated.

Background

Umar Samaila is a 20-year-old young man from a financially struggling family. He is hardworking, responsible, and known for supporting his parents and younger siblings with daily family activities. He is respectful, determined, and hopes to become a successful businessman in the future so he can improve the living condition of his family. According Umar, about 2 years ago, he suffered a chronic Urinary Tract Infection with pus discharge. He was treated in the hospital and his symptoms subsided. However, recently Umar began experiencing difficulty passing urine, weak urinary stream, straining during urination, and lower abdominal discomfort several months ago. Over time, his symptoms became more severe, affecting his daily activities, sleep, and general wellbeing. As his condition worsened, his parent took him to State specialist Hospital and he was diagnosed to have Urethral stricture and planned for Surgery but couldn't afford the cost of treatment. In the meantime, urethral catheters was inserted so that he can pass urine. At UMD, diagnosis of Urethral Stricture was confirmed and planned for surgery upon approval by Helpster charity foundation.

Prognosis

Following medical evaluation, Umar was diagnosed with symptomatic Urethral Stricture requiring surgical intervention. He was planned for corrective surgery(Urethroplasty)to restore normal urine flow and prevent complications such as infection or kidney damage. Prognosis is favorable with surgery but the chances of the stricture recurring is to be remembered. With timely surgery, proper catheter care, antibiotics, and follow-up management, Umar has a very good chance of full recovery and return to normal daily life.
