Samiya Binte Sara has been diagnosed with acute watery diarrhea with gastroenteritis. Acute watery diarrhea with gastroenteritis is the sudden onset of three or more loose or liquid stools within 24 hours, lasting less than 14 days, and is often accompanied by vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and fever. It can cause severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, metabolic acidosis, shock, malnutrition, and, in severe untreated cases, death.

Background
Samiya Binte Sara is a polite and intelligent 5-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a teacher and loves playing with her friends. She lives with her parents in a fragile home where her father, Sajjad Hossain, earns only around 6,000 BDT per month as a day laborer, making it very difficult to manage emergency medical expenses. Samiya became seriously ill with severe diarrhea, vomiting, fever, stomach pain, weakness, and low urine output during a seasonal outbreak linked to poor hygiene and shared toilet use in the area. Her family first went to a government hospital, but due to poor hygienic conditions and shortage of medicines, her condition did not improve, and they later came to Helpster Partner Hospital after learning about Helpster Charity through a healthcare worker. Without urgent treatment and proper hydration, her condition could become very dangerous due to severe dehydration and infection.
Medical history
Samiya Binte Sara was admitted on 22.04.2026 with acute watery diarrhea with gastroenteritis. At the time of admission, she was suffering from frequent loose stools, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, dehydration, weakness, and low urine output. After admission, the doctors immediately started proper medical management and supportive treatment, including intravenous fluids, medications, hydration therapy, nutritional support, and close monitoring of her condition. She remained under continuous observation to ensure that her fluid and electrolyte balance was restored and to prevent further complications. With timely treatment, proper nursing care, and supportive therapy, her condition gradually improved day by day. Her fever subsided, vomiting stopped, stool frequency decreased, and she was able to take food and fluids properly again. As her overall condition became stable and secure, she was successfully discharged from the hospital on 27.04.2026.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Sara so that she can receive proper hydration, feeding, and other supportive care. With timely treatment, her fluid levels can be restored, her weakness will improve, and she will have a strong chance of making a full recovery. Supportive therapy will help her body regain strength and prevent further complications. However, if she is left untreated, her dehydration may worsen rapidly, leading to severe illness and possible organ failure. Without urgent medical care, this condition could become life-threatening for such a young child.
