About pregnancy
The patient is a 38 weeks and 1 day pregnant woman, gravida 1, who presented with breech presentation, a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its buttocks or feet pointing downward instead of the usual head-down position. Due to this complication, the fetus developed fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury, and head entrapment, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and baby.

Background
Most. Rupali Akter is a kind and hopeful 23-year-old young mother who dreams of owning a home and safely welcoming her first child into the world. She lives with her husband and mother-in-law in a fragile government quarter, where her husband is the only earning member, working as a day laborer with a monthly income of only BDT 6,000, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of the emergency treatment she urgently needs. Doctors have found that her baby is in a breech position, placing both mother and baby at high risk, and without timely treatment, they could face serious, potentially life-threatening complications, including prolonged or obstructed labor, fetal distress, lack of oxygen to the baby, severe bleeding, birth injury, stillbirth, or loss of the mother's life. Medical history
Most. Rupali Akter was admitted on 23.05.2026 with a 38-week-and-1-day pregnancy complicated by a breech presentation. Considering the risk to both the mother and the baby, a LUCS was performed on the same day. The operation was successful, and she safely delivered a healthy baby. After surgery, she received proper medical treatment, continuous monitoring, and attentive nursing care, which supported a smooth recovery. As her condition improved steadily, both the mother and the baby remained stable and were discharged in good health on 26.05.2026.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for Rupali is LUCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation, leading to permanent brain damage or even death, and the mother may also face life-threatening infections or complications.
