Cynthia is a cheerful and hardworking 7-year-old girl in Grade 3 living with her parents and siblings in a rural village. She is respectful, eager to learn, and enjoys singing, storytelling, skipping rope, and helping her mother with simple household chores. Cynthia dreams of becoming a nurse so she can help sick people and improve her family’s future. Her family lives in a two-room mud house without electricity and relies on water from an untreated well. Her father works as a water supplier at a local hotel, earning about KSh 2,000 monthly, which is barely enough to support the family. Cynthia was brought to Bulondo Health Centre with an eight-day history of fever, weakness, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Her mother initially used herbal medicine at home, but the child’s condition worsened progressively. Due to financial hardship, the family delayed seeking hospital care until they learned about a medical inreach at the facility. After assessment and understanding the family’s challenges, the facility linked them to Helpster Charity, which facilitated free treatment, admission, and close monitoring.

Cynthia was admitted to the hospital with severe typhoid fever and malaria after presenting with high fever, body weakness, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and poor appetite. Upon medical assessment and investigations, she was diagnosed with severe malaria and typhoid fever and immediately started on treatment. She received appropriate antimalarial medication, antibiotics, fluids, fever-reducing drugs, and supportive nursing care throughout her admission. She was also closely monitored for dehydration, nutrition, and response to treatment. As the treatment progressed, her fever subsided, abdominal pain reduced, diarrhoea stopped, and her appetite and strength gradually improved. Through the support of Helpster Charity Organization, Cynthia was able to receive free medical treatment and hospital care despite her family’s financial difficulties.

Cynthia was diagnosed with severe malaria, enteric fever, and severe dehydration after presenting with prolonged fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and marked weakness. Her condition required urgent admission for intravenous fluids, antimalarial medication, antibiotics, and close monitoring to restore hydration and control infection. Since treatment was initiated, she has shown gradual improvement with reduction in fever, better hydration status, and improved strength. Her recovery progress is promising, though continued treatment, nutritional support, and follow-up care remain important to ensure full stabilization and prevent complications.
