Mahmud is a 2 year old son of Malam Unman, a petty trader living within a densely populated community at the outskirt of the main city of Maiduguru, Borno State. Mahmud is a lively child who likes playing. The child was apparently well until 8 months ago when he developed severe pains upon seen by a Helpster Volunteer. Mahmud cannot sleep properly. The child was presented to UMD health facility for medical intervention. The father of the child is and IDP and has a family of seven children and two wives who largely depends on petty trading as the only source of income. The family cannot even afford the three square meal for his family, talk less of the catering for the health needs of his family and hence the needs to seek assistance from charity organisation like Helpster.

The mother of Mahmud Usman on behalf of her family, expressed her sincere appreciation and happiness to the surgical team, UMD Medical Clinic with more emphasis to Helpster Charity organisation for reaching out to their family in providing succour. This is a kind gesture they will never forget in their family. Initially, they were helpless considering the situation of their child an their inability to cater for the medical bills of their child due to financial constraints, they have attended several Government hospitals within their community to seek for medical assistance but proved futile. The emergence of Helpster in their community, ameliorates their distress, thus brought hope and sense of belonging to their family and sick child who was helpless, is now cured and active by the effort of Helpster Charity. Therefore, she is thanking Helpster for their humanitarian support and prayed for the success of the organisation in all ramifications.

The patient has been brought to the facility with the complaint of umbilical swelling and right scrotal swelling that has been for more than 8 months, and eventually was diagnosed of symptomatic umbilical hernia with right congenital hernia. An urgent surgery is needed.
