Takrim Hossain is a 5-month-old baby boy who lives with his parents and two older siblings in a modest bamboo-and-tin home in a hilly area of Bangladesh. His father is the sole earning member of the family and works on a daily basis with an uncertain income, making it difficult to meet household expenses and impossible to afford costly medical treatment. Takrim has become seriously ill with severe pneumonia, high fever, and breathing difficulties, leaving him weak, irritable, and unable to feed properly. His parents are deeply worried as there is no nearby government healthcare facility capable of providing the urgent care he needs. Without timely treatment, his breathing problems and low oxygen levels could worsen rapidly, leading to life-threatening complications. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Abu Sayeed.

Takrim Hossain, a 05-month-old infant, was admitted on 26.04.2026 to Orion Hospital with complaints of severe cough with difficulty breathing, high-grade fever for seven days, along with reduced feeding and irritability. The patient was admitted through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed at Orion Hospital, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. On admission, detailed clinical evaluation and necessary investigations were conducted. The patient was diagnosed with Severe Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) with hypoxemia. He was managed with hospitalization under close monitoring, including oxygen therapy for hypoxemia, appropriate pharmacological treatment, correction of fluids and electrolytes, and adequate nutritional support to ensure recovery. The patient remained hospitalized for a total of seven days and was discharged on 03.04.2026 in stable condition with proper medical advice and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

Doctors have have advised immediate hospital-based treatment including oxygen support, antibiotics, fever control, and close monitoring to stabilize his condition. With timely and proper medical care, there is a strong chance of recovery, and he can gradually return to normal health as the infection clears and breathing improves. However, if left untreated, the infection may rapidly worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, spread of infection in the body, and life-threatening complications, which may even result in death.
