Abruptio and Malpresentation. Abruptio is an emergency medical condition where there is usually a partial or complete separation of the placenta from the wall of the uterus before a baby is delivered leading to serious vaginal bleeding, severe abdominal pain, fetal distress etc. Malpresentation on the other hand, is also an emergency where the fetal position in the uterus is not normal cephalic presentation at delivery. Malpresentation can be breech presentation, traverse lie or face presentation etc.

Background
Laraba Sunday is a 31 year old woman who is married to one Mr. Sunday Jacob. Together they live in a one room modest apartment in uke. My Sunday her husband is a tailor who earns less than 40,000 monthly. Sunday laraba is generally jovial, she loves making hair and she occasionally makes hair to earn some tokens. She dreams of becoming a lawyer but since she couldn't get into the university after secondary school, she dreams of owning a very big Salon in the future. Laraba Sunday, 31 year old woman was rushed into our facility by her friends who have been with her at the general hospital uke, where she had been in labour for some hours and had been bleeding. Upon being told that normal delivery was impossible, and the cost thereof, she was immediately advised by friend who have heard about Helpster and was rushed to our facility. Upon arrival, she was immediately stabilized, consent was obtained and she immediately underwent an emergency Cesarean Section.
Medical history
Laraba Sunday 31 year old gravida was presented with lower segment stomach pain. She was diagnosed with abruptio placenta and Malpresentation. Due to the risk involved, she was immediately booked for an emergency Cesarean Section under general anesthesia. The procedure was successful. She was placed under antibiotics and analgesic during postoperative monitoring. She tolerated it well and is receiving well. She has since been discharged.
Prognosis
Laraba Sunday is a 31 year old gravida with diagnosis of abruptio placenta and Malpresentation. The maternal prognosis for her is guarded but more favourable with prompt obstetric intervention and supportive care. The fetal prognosis depends largely largely on the placenta separation and fetal status at presentation. Early recognition and appropriate management including timely delivery where indicated will significantly improve both maternal and fetal outcomes. The combination of abruptio placentae and fetal malpresentation carries a highly critical prognosis due to the catastrophic risk of rapid maternal hemorrhagic shock, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and severe fetal hypoxia. This obstetric emergency necessitates an immediate cesarean delivery and aggressive maternal resuscitation to optimize survival outcomes for both the mother and the infant.
