Ayat Rahman is a newborn baby girl who had only just begun her life when she became seriously ill with a dangerous infection and severe jaundice. She lives with her young mother, Akhi Akter, and her father, Asif Iqbal, a day labourer who earns only around 8,000 BDT per month, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of emergency hospital treatment. When Ayat stopped feeding properly and developed yellow discoloration of her skin and eyes, doctors found that she was suffering from neonatal jaundice and a serious bloodstream infection. Without urgent medical care, the infection could have spread rapidly throughout her body, while the high bilirubin level could have caused permanent brain damage or even loss of life. After learning about Helpster Charity through Volunteer Masud Rana, the family found hope that Ayat could receive the lifesaving treatment she urgently needed.

Ayat Rahman, a newborn baby, was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 22-05-2026 with yellow discoloration of the skin and eyes along with reluctance to feed. Following admission, the baby underwent clinical evaluation and necessary investigations, including CBC and Serum Bilirubin (Total, Direct, and Indirect) tests. Based on the clinical findings and laboratory reports, the baby was diagnosed with Neonatal Jaundice along with Late Onset Neonatal Septicemia. The patient received conservative treatment, close monitoring, supportive care, feeding management, and appropriate medications to control the infection and reduce bilirubin levels. Due to the potentially serious nature of the condition, continuous observation and timely medical intervention were provided to prevent complications such as severe sepsis, neurological damage, and bilirubin-induced brain injury. After showing satisfactory clinical improvement and stabilization of the condition, the baby was discharged from the hospital on 27-05-2026 with advice for follow-up and continued care at home.

Doctors expect Ayat's condition to improve with immediate hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, phototherapy, and other supportive treatment. The antibiotics will help control the infection, while phototherapy will reduce the high bilirubin levels responsible for her jaundice and help prevent damage to her developing brain. With timely treatment and close monitoring, she has a good chance of recovering and continuing normal growth and development. If left untreated, the infection could spread rapidly throughout her body, leading to severe illness, organ failure, and life-threatening complications. In addition, untreated jaundice could cause permanent brain damage, making urgent medical care essential for her survival and long-term well-being.
