Solomon is the only child to his mother. They live with his mother’s aunt, uncle, and cousins in a two-room mud-walled house. His mother is a total orphan who dropped out of school after losing both parents and was taken in by relatives. The elderly uncle has no stable source of income, and Solomon’s mother survives through casual jobs to provide for her son. She first learned about Helpster Charity from a healthcare worker at a nearby dispensary where she had initially sought treatment. According to his mother, Solomon was taken to a nearby dispensary for a malaria vaccine. A day later, she noticed swelling on one of his legs. She initially massaged the area, hoping it would improve, but the swelling persisted. She returned to the dispensary where Solomon was treated and discharged home. However, his condition worsened significantly over the following day. The swelling increased rapidly, the affected limb became painful. He became restless, cried continuously due to pain, and developed difficulty sleeping because of the discomfort. Concerned by the worsening condition and lack of improvement, his mother sought further treatment at Siaya County Referral Hospital.

Solomon was brought to the hospital with complaints of pain and swelling of the thigh. Ut was found to have an abscess, thus an incision was made and drainage done . He was admitted to the ward for further management and wound care , while in the ward he was administered floxapen , paracetamol syrup, ranferon among other drugs to which he was tolerant. He was later discharged on orals and follow up clinic date booked for him

Solomon was diagnosed with pyomyositis after presenting with painful limb swelling, reduced movement of the affected leg, tenderness, and progressive weakness. His condition required urgent admission for antibiotics, pain control, and close monitoring to prevent spread of infection and further muscle damage; and also drainage of the pus. His response to therapy has been encouraging, although continued follow-up and completion of treatment will be important to support full recovery and restoration of normal limb function.
