Omair is a 5-year-old Rohingya child who lives with his parents, two brothers, and two sisters in a refugee camp in Bangladesh. His father works as a day laborer with no regular income, and the family largely depends on food assistance to survive, making it impossible for them to afford the cost of surgery and medical treatment. Omair has been suffering from a painful inguinal hernia that causes repeated swelling and severe discomfort, often leaving him unable to eat, play, or interact normally with his family. Despite visiting several NGO health facilities, his parents could not find a place where the required surgery could be performed. Without timely treatment, the hernia could become trapped and cut off blood supply to the intestine, leading to severe pain, serious complications, and a potentially life-threatening emergency. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Abu Sayeed.

Mohammad Omair, a 5-year-old male child, was admitted on 01.06.2026 with complaints of right-sided scrotal swelling, associated with intermittent groin pain and swelling for one year at Orion Hospital through Helpster volunteer Ali Azad. On admission, a thorough clinical examination and necessary investigations were performed to confirm the diagnosis. The patient was diagnosed with a right-sided reducible incomplete direct hernia and subsequently underwent herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) under General Anesthesia. Post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and follow-up, was provided to ensure full recovery. He remained hospitalized for four days, and the operation was performed on 03.06.2026. The patient was discharged on 05.06.2026 in a stable condition with medications, dietary advice, and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

Doctors have recommended a herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) to correct Mohammed Omair’s condition and prevent further complications. With proper postoperative care, including pain management, wound care, and regular follow-up visits, he is expected to make a full recovery and return to normal childhood activities without pain or restriction. The procedure will relieve his recurring discomfort, improve his appetite, and allow him to grow and play like other children his age. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become trapped or obstructed, cutting off blood supply to the intestine and leading to a life-threatening emergency. Timely surgery will not only restore his health but also protect his future well-being and development.
