Nazmul I., 15

Nazmul Islam is a brave and determined 15-year-old boy who had just completed his SSC examination and dreamed of becoming a teacher before losing a leg in a tragic accident. His father spent the family's entire savings on his previous treatment, and as the sole earning member, he can no longer afford the cost of Nazmul's emergency medical care, leaving the family and concerned neighbors helpless. Now diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis with moderate to severe dehydration secondary to enteric fever, Nazmul's condition is critical, and without prompt treatment he could develop severe dehydration, bloodstream infection (sepsis), shock, multiple organ failure, or even lose his life. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Abu Sayeed, giving them hope when they had no other way to continue his treatment.

Nazmul Islam, a 15-year-old male child, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 01.06.2026 through Helpster Volunteer Abu Sayeed with complaints of high-grade fever for several days, frequent watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, generalized weakness, and poor oral intake. On admission, the patient underwent clinical evaluation and necessary laboratory investigations. Based on the clinical findings and investigation reports, he was diagnosed with Enteric Fever with Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) and dehydration. He was admitted for close monitoring and received intravenous fluid therapy for rehydration, antibiotic treatment for enteric fever, antipyretics, management of diarrhea, nutritional support, and regular monitoring of vital signs and laboratory parameters. Despite continued treatment and supportive care, the patient's clinical condition did not improve as expected. Considering the need for advanced evaluation and specialized management, he was urgently referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for higher-level treatment.

According to the treating doctor, immediate hospitalization, intravenous fluids, antibiotics, nutritional support, and close medical monitoring are essential to treat Md. Nazmul's enteric fever, control the severe diarrhea, and correct his dehydration. With timely treatment, his fever and abdominal pain are expected to improve, his hydration and strength will gradually return, and he will be able to resume his normal daily activities. However, if left untreated, severe dehydration and enteric fever can rapidly progress to septicemia (bloodstream infection), electrolyte imbalance, shock, intestinal perforation, multi-organ failure, and even death. Prompt medical intervention is therefore critical to prevent these life-threatening complications and ensure a safe recovery.
