Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Severe pneumonia is a serious infection of the lungs that causes inflammation and difficulty in breathing. It is characterized by symptoms such as high fever, persistent cough, rapid or labored breathing, chest pain, low oxygen levels, inability to feed or drink, lethargy, and general weakness. Without prompt treatment, severe pneumonia can lead to respiratory failure, bloodstream infection, and other life-threatening complications.

Background
Ignatius is a 13-year-old boy who lives with his parents and siblings in a rural community. He is respectful, responsible, and hardworking, and is well-liked by both his family and peers. He enjoys attending school, playing football, spending time with his siblings, and helping with household chores. Ignatius dreams of becoming a teacher so that he can educate others and contribute positively to his community. His family lives in a modest two-room mud house without electricity, relying on paraffin lamps for lighting and firewood for cooking. They obtain water from an untreated well, while his father works as a cleaner at a local hotel, earning approximately KSh 1,000 per month to support the family's basic needs. Despite financial hardships, the family remains supportive and united. Ignatius was brought to the health facility by his father after developing a high fever, nausea, fatigue, general body weakness, and rapid breathing. According to his mother, the illness began about eight days earlier and progressively worsened, leaving him increasingly weak and unable to carry out his normal activities. Due to financial constraints, the family was unable to seek medical care immediately. When they learned of a medical outreach at Bulondo Health Centre, they attended in search of help. Following assessment, the facility in-charge referred them to Helpster Charity, where Ignatius was enrolled and admitted for further evaluation, treatment, and close monitoring. He is currently receiving medical care and has shown significant improvement, with his condition steadily stabilizing under follow-up care.
Medical history
Ignatious was diagnosed with severe pneumonia complicated by septicaemia (a serious bloodstream infection). He was admitted to the hospital for close monitoring and received intensive treatment, including intravenous antibiotics, oxygen therapy, intravenous fluids, and other supportive care to stabilize his condition and control the infection. Throughout his treatment, healthcare providers closely monitored his vital signs, breathing, and laboratory results to assess his response to therapy. Additional medications and supportive measures were provided as needed to manage symptoms, prevent complications, and support recovery. Following treatment, Ignatious showed gradual clinical improvement. His infection came under control, respiratory symptoms reduced, and his overall condition stabilized. With continued medical care and follow-up, the prognosis became favorable, although ongoing monitoring was recommended to ensure complete recovery and prevent recurrence.
Prognosis
Ignatius was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and septicaemia, both serious and potentially life-threatening infections affecting the lungs and bloodstream. Prompt treatment with antibiotics, supportive care, and close monitoring is essential and greatly improves his chances of recovery. With appropriate medical management, the infection can be controlled, symptoms can resolve, and normal growth and development can continue. His prognosis is favorable because treatment was initiated in time. However, if left untreated, the infections could lead to respiratory failure, septic shock, organ damage, permanent disability, or death.
