Mohammad Sadek is a bright, polite, and determined 12-year-old Rohingya boy who dreams of becoming a teacher, but his tongue-tie makes it difficult for him to speak clearly, participate in class, and communicate with others. He lives with his parents and five siblings in the refugee camp, where his father is the only earning member and works as a day laborer with an irregular income that is barely enough to provide food and basic necessities, making the cost of surgery impossible to afford. His speech and swallowing difficulties have gradually worsened, affecting his education, nutrition, and confidence, leaving his parents and siblings deeply worried about his future. Doctors have warned that if the condition is left untreated, he may continue to suffer from severe speech impairment, poor nutrition, repeated feeding difficulties, and emotional distress, which could limit his education and future opportunities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Abu Sayeed, giving them hope that Sadek can receive the surgery he urgently needs and achieve his dream of becoming a teacher.

Md. Sadek was admitted to Orion Hospital on 01 June 2026 through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed with severe speech and swallowing difficulties caused by Ankyloglossia (Tongue-Tie). He successfully underwent frenuloplasty (tongue-tie release) under general anesthesia and recovered well with post-operative care and rehabilitation. He was discharged in stable condition on 05 June 2026 with medications and follow-up advice. His family sincerely thanks Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers, and the medical team at Orion Hospital for their generous financial support, compassionate care, and successful treatment that has given Sadek a better chance to speak, eat, and learn with confidence.

Doctors have recommended frenuloplasty under general anesthesia, followed by proper post-operative care and follow-up. This procedure will release the tight tissue under the tongue and allow Nur Hakim to move her tongue more freely. With successful treatment, her ability to eat, swallow, and develop speech is expected to improve significantly, helping her grow and communicate more normally as he gets older. Early treatment will also reduce feeding discomfort and support better nutrition and overall development. However, if the condition is left untreated, she may continue to face serious feeding difficulties, poor nutrition, speech delay, and repeated choking risks, which in a young child can become dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
