Habiba Akter is a sweet and cheerful 3-year-old girl whose dream of running and playing like other children has been limited by the severe bowing of her legs. She lives with her parents and elder brother, Jumayet, in a small rented house in Geneva Camp, where her father earns only BDT 9,000 per month through embroidery work as a daily laborer, making it impossible for the family to afford the specialized treatment she needs. Habiba has been diagnosed with rickets, and without timely treatment, her bones may become permanently deformed, leaving her with lifelong difficulty walking, poor growth, chronic pain, and physical disability. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp in Geneva Camp, giving them hope when they had no other way to pay for her treatment. With proper medical care, Habiba has the opportunity to grow stronger, walk independently, and enjoy the happy childhood every child deserves

With Helpster’s support, Habiba Akter was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on June 1, 2026, to address severe bowing in both of her legs. Medical staff carefully monitored her condition and initiated conservative medical therapy to stabilize her, completing her primary clinical intervention with a targeted regimen that included high-dose vitamin D3 injections. Following successful in-hospital management, she spent a total of four days under close supervision before being discharged on June 5, 2026. She transitioned to home care with a dedicated post-discharge plan consisting of a normal diet alongside oral zinc and iron syrups to continue her healing process. This timely intervention safely stabilized her bone health, significantly reducing her constant physical distress and paving the way for her to stand, walk, and grow comfortably without the threat of permanent deformities.

According to Dr. Md. Tarequl Kabir, Habiba requires dedicated conservative management, including targeted high-dose Vitamin D3, Zinc, and iron supplements to treat her severe Rickets. This vital care will dramatically improve her life by strengthening her weak bones, eliminating her constant pain, and allowing her to stand and walk normally like other children.
