Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About skin

Eczema is a condition that causes your skin to become dry, itchy and bumpy. This condition weakens your skin's barrier function, which is responsible for helping your skin retain moisture and protecting your body from outside elements. Eczema is a type of dermatitis Ringworm of the body (tinea corporis) is a rash caused by a fungal infection. It's usually an itchy, circular rash with clearer skin in the middle. Ringworm gets its name because of its appearance. Bacteremia is the presence of bacteria in the bloodstream. Bacteremia may result from ordinary activities (such as vigorous toothbrushing), dental or medical procedures, or from infections (such as pneumonia. Pneumonia is one of the most common causes of death worldwide.

Background

Shantel is a 5 year old girl who lives with her mother and father. She aspires to become an engineer when she grows up. About 4 days ago, Shantel complained of having fevers, skin rash, reduced appetite and was vomiting.

Medical history

Shantel was brought to the hospital with a 4 days history of complained of fever, skin rash, reduced appetite and vomiting. She was diagnosed with moderate anaemia. bacteremia in her blood and malaria and she also had tinea (ringworms) and atopic eczema. She was put on treatment for all these. While in the inpatient ,she was given IV medication to treat malaria, to stop the vomiting and also antibiotics to treat the bacteremia. While in the hospital, her anaemia worsened, and her blood haemoglobin dropped so she was referred to a higher level health facility for blood transfusion. She progressed well at the hospital she had been referred to after the blood transfusion and was discharged Follow ups were done and she is fairing on well.

Prognosis

As atopic eczema can cause your skin to become cracked and broken, there's a risk of the skin becoming infected with bacteria. The risk is higher if you scratch your eczema or do not use your treatments correctly. Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a common chronic skin condition that can lead to recurrent infections and poor quality of life if left untreated. Most episodes of occult bacteremia spontaneously resolve, and serious sequelae are increasingly uncommon. However, serious bacterial infections occur, including pneumonia, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, cellulitis, meningitis, and sepsis; death may result.
