Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Severe malaria is a life-threatening form of malaria caused predominantly by the parasite Plasmodium falciparum. It occurs when the infection leads to serious complications affecting vital organs and body systems. Children, particularly those aged two years, are at high risk because their immune systems are not yet fully developed. Typhoid fever is a systemic bacterial infection caused by Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi (Salmonella Typhi). The disease is acquired through ingestion of food or water contaminated with the feces or urine of an infected person. Young children, including those aged two years, are susceptible to infection, particularly in areas with poor hygiene and lack of clean water.

Background
Treasure Reseigon Inusa is a two year old baby living with widowed mother and one other sibling. Together, they live with their mother's parents (grandparents) in modest family compound in Uke, bus-stop Nasarawa State. Treasure's mother works as a primary school teacher in a private primary school where she earns 30,000 monthly. The family barely survives as the grand parents of Treasure are also old and poor. She was reported to have been suffering from fever associated with vomiting. The caregiver has tried to manage the situation at home, but Treasure kept looking weak and increasingly looking ill. When the caregiver ran out of options, she rushed to our facility with the sick child. Child was immediately presented for laboratory investigations. He was diagnosed with Severe malaria and typhoid and was admitted
Medical history
Treasure a two year old child was presented with with complaints of general body weakness, high body temperature and vomiting. Upon lab investigation, the child was diagnosed with Severe malaria Fever and typhoid. He was immediately admitted and treated with anti malaria such arthemetre and paracetamol and antibiotics such cefuroxime. He was discharged after two days with vital improvements signs. Take home oral medication was issued.
Prognosis
For a two year child suffering from severe malaria and typhoid fever presents a serious infectious condition requiring urgent medical attention. The prognosis is guarded at presentation due to increased risk of complications associated with the two diseases. However, with timely intervention and treatment and supportive care the likelihood of recovery is good. Consequently, delayed treatment or the development of severe complications may adversely affect the outcome and increase the risk of morbidity and mortality.
