Adiba Akter is a gentle and quiet 5-year-old girl who dreams of living a happy childhood free from pain. She lives with her parents and her elder sister, who is physically disabled, in a family that depends entirely on her father's small income as a day laborer. Despite working hard every day, her father struggles to provide food, medicine, and daily necessities, making the cost of surgery impossible for the family to afford. For the past three years, Adiba has suffered from pain and swelling near her navel, and her parents watch helplessly as the condition gradually worsens. Without timely surgery, the hernia could become trapped, causing severe pain, bowel blockage, loss of blood supply to the intestine, serious infection, and other life-threatening complications. The family became heartbroken after learning about the urgent need for surgery and later learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Jamilur Reza, giving them hope that Adiba can receive the treatment she desperately needs.

On 24 May 2026, 5-year-old Adiba Akter arrived at Modern Hospital, Cumilla, accompanied by her father, with complaints of severe abdominal pain. After conducting a thorough physical examination, the doctor recommended several diagnostic tests and, based on the results, determined that surgery was necessary. The doctor diagnosed Adiba with a supraumbilical hernia, a condition that required urgent surgical intervention. All the necessary medical tests were completed on the same day, and her surgery began at 2:25 PM. The procedure was successfully completed without any complications. Following the surgery, Adiba gradually recovered under the close supervision of the doctors and the dedicated follow-up care provided by the nursing staff. Her condition improved steadily, and on 26 May 2026, she was discharged from the hospital in stable condition and returned home safely with her family. According to the treating doctors, Herniotomy is the definitive treatment for Adiba’s supra umbilical hernia. The surgery will repair the weakness in the abdominal wall, relieve her pain and swelling, and prevent the hernia from becoming larger or causing further complications.
