Md. Sohag Hossain is a fragile yet resilient one-month-old baby who lives with his parents and elderly grandparents in a family of five, where everyone depends on his father's small income. His father is the sole earning member, working as a construction laborer with a monthly income of approximately BDT 8,000, which is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities after already spending their savings on Sohag's NICU care, leaving the family unable to afford the specialized Anti-VEGF eye treatment and follow-up retinal examinations he urgently needs. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Sohag urgently requires Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes, followed by regular retinal examinations to monitor his recovery. The doctors are optimistic that timely treatment can successfully stop the abnormal blood vessel growth, allow the retina to develop properly, and preserve Sohag's vision, enabling him to grow up with functional eyesight and enjoy a normal childhood. However, if treatment is delayed or unavailable due to financial hardship, the disease may progress rapidly, resulting in irreversible retinal damage and permanent blindness.
