Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

LIFE CARE HOSPITAL & DIAGNOSTIC CENTER

Roumari, Kurigram

Background

Jakariya Islam is a cheerful and innocent 17-month-old baby boy who is deeply loved by his parents and two elder brothers. His father, Saheb Mia, is the only earning member of the five-member family and earns only BDT 7,000 per month as a construction day laborer, making it impossible to afford the cost of Jakariya's lifesaving treatment while also meeting the family's daily needs. He has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia with fluid around one of his lungs, and without timely treatment, the infection could spread rapidly, causing severe breathing failure, widespread infection, permanent lung damage, or even become life-threatening. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a staff member of Life Care Hospital, giving them hope when they had no way to pay for his treatment.

Medical history

Jakariya Islam was admitted to the hospital on 07 May 2026 with a history of fever, cold, cough, and breathing difficulty for several days. His condition had been gradually worsening, leading to weakness and increased respiratory distress. After clinical evaluation and necessary investigations, doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia (right lung) with left-sided pleural effusion. He received appropriate treatment including antibiotics, oxygen support, and close monitoring under the care of the medical team. During his hospital stay, Jakariya showed steady improvement with timely treatment and continuous care. His symptoms gradually reduced, and his breathing became more stable over the following days. He responded well to the management provided by the hospital team. He was discharged from the hospital on 14 May 2026 in stable condition. Jakariya’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its volunteers, and the hospital staff for their kind support and compassionate care, which played a vital role in his recovery.

Prognosis

With timely administration of proper antibiotics, oxygen support, and other supportive care, Jakariya’s pneumonia and pleural effusion can be effectively managed, leading to gradual improvement in his fever, cough, and breathing difficulty. Proper medical treatment will help stabilize his condition, support his recovery, and reduce the risk of further complications, giving him a better chance to return to normal health and development. Close monitoring is essential to manage any deterioration quickly. However, if left untreated or delayed, his condition may worsen and lead to severe respiratory distress and life-threatening complications, which can be extremely dangerous at this young age.
