About pregnancy
The patient is a 38-week pregnant woman, gravida 1, who presented with breech presentation and mild oligohydramnios. Breech presentation is a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its buttocks or feet pointing downward instead of the usual head-down position. Oligohydramnios refers to a lower-than-normal level of amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus.

Background
Shahnaj Parvin is a kind and hardworking young mother who has carefully followed her antenatal check-ups and dreams of welcoming a healthy baby into her family. She lives with her husband, Md. Safaul, and her elderly in-laws, Sufia Begum and Ajimul Islam, who all depend on her husband's small monthly income of only 6,000 BDT, making it impossible to afford the cost of emergency hospital treatment. When doctors found that her baby was in a breech position after she developed abdominal pain and watery discharge, they warned that delaying treatment could put both the mother and unborn baby at serious risk. Without timely medical care, complications during delivery could become life-threatening for both of them. Hoping to save both lives, the family is seeking support from Helpster Charity after learning about the organization through their treating doctor.
Medical history
Shahnaj Parvin was admitted to the hospital on 21.05.2026 with a 38-week-and-6-day pregnancy complicated by breech presentation. Considering the risk to both the mother and baby, an LSCS was performed on the same day. The surgery was successful, and a healthy baby was delivered safely. Following the operation, she received appropriate medical management, nursing care, and postoperative monitoring, which contributed to a smooth recovery. Both the mother and baby remained in stable condition and were discharged from the hospital on 24.05.2026 in good health.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for her is LSCS under SAB, which is the safest option for delivering the baby and preventing further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to be delivered safely, recover well, and lead a healthy life. However, if delivery is delayed or the condition is left untreated, the baby may suffer from fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury, and head entrapment, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.
