Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

LIFE CARE HOSPITAL & DIAGNOSTIC CENTER

Roumari, Kurigram

Background

Anower Hossain is a hardworking and determined 12-year-old boy who is studying in Class 6 and hopes to continue his education despite his family's financial struggles. He lives with his parents in a family of three, where his 70-year-old father is the only earning member, working as an auto-van driver with a monthly income of approximately BDT 6,000, which is barely enough to cover food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, investigations, surgery, and medicines. After learning about Helpster Charity through a staff member of Life Care Hospital and Diagnostic Center, the family sought assistance in the hope of accessing the urgent treatment Anower needs. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue his treatment without financial support. Without timely treatment, an appendicular lump can progress to an abscess, rupture of the appendix, widespread abdominal infection (peritonitis), sepsis, and other life-threatening complications that could seriously endanger Anower's life.

Medical history

Anower Hossain was admitted to the hospital on 22/05/2026 after suffering from persistent abdominal pain and fever for around ten days. Following a thorough medical evaluation and necessary investigations, he was diagnosed with an appendicular lump, a complication resulting from an inflamed appendix. Considering the potential risks associated with this condition, doctors initiated appropriate treatment and kept him under close observation. During his hospital stay, Anower received comprehensive medical care, including medications, antibiotics, pain management, and regular monitoring by the healthcare team. Gradually, his symptoms improved, his fever subsided, and his abdominal pain became significantly less severe. With continuous treatment and supportive care, his condition stabilized, and he showed steady progress toward recovery. He was discharged from the hospital on 26/05/2026 in improved condition. Anower and his family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its volunteers, and the medical team for their generous support and timely assistance, which played a significant role in his treatment and recovery.

Prognosis

The doctor’s prognosis is that an appendicectomy (surgical removal of the appendix) will eliminate the source of infection and help resolve Anower’s appendicular lump, relieving his abdominal pain and fever. This will allow him to recover fully and return to his normal daily activities and studies. With timely surgery and proper postoperative care, most patients recover well without long-term health problems. The procedure also helps prevent the infection from spreading to surrounding tissues and causing further complications. If the condition is left untreated, the appendicular lump may progress to abscess formation, rupture of the inflamed appendix, or widespread infection within the abdomen. Delayed treatment can greatly increase the risk of serious complications and prolong recovery, making early intervention essential for Anower’s safe recovery.
