Jayeda A., 14

Jayeda is a bright and hardworking 15-year-old girl who is studying in Class 8 and dreams of continuing her education despite her family's financial struggles. Her father, Md. Delowar Hawlader (40), is the sole earning member of the family and earns only about BDT 6,000 per month as a day laborer, which is barely enough to support Jayeda, her mother Rabeya Begum (35), her brothers Abu Raihan (16) and Abdullah (6), and her elderly grandmother Safia Begum (75). When Jayeda developed a painful swelling beneath her jaw, accompanied by fever and increasing difficulty eating, speaking, and moving her neck, her condition became serious, but the family could not afford the urgent treatment she needed. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach program conducted by Anwar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, who guided them in seeking assistance for her care. Without timely surgery and medical treatment, the infection could spread deeper into her neck, cause severe breathing difficulties, permanent tissue damage, or other life-threatening complications, putting both her health and future at grave risk

Ms. Jayeda Akter was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center on 30 May 2026 with fever, severe pain, and marked tenderness in the right submandibular region. Following a detailed clinical evaluation, she was diagnosed with a Submandibular Abscess. Considering the severity of the infection and the potential risk of serious complications, she successfully underwent an Incision and Drainage (I&D) procedure on 31 May 2026. The surgery allowed for the evacuation of pus and removal of infected and necrotic tissue from the affected area, which played a vital role in preventing potentially life-threatening complications. During her hospital stay, she received five days of close medical observation, postoperative treatment, necessary medications, wound care, regular dressing changes, and continuous medical supervision. As a result of the treatment, her condition improved steadily, and the surgical wound showed satisfactory healing. Subsequently, she was discharged from the hospital on 03 June 2026 in a stable and improved condition. With appropriate follow-up care and adherence to medical advice, she is expected to make a full recovery and return to her normal daily activities. Ms. Jayeda and her family express their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, volunteers Mr. Anwar Hossain Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy, and the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff of Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center. Their generous financial assistance, humanitarian support, and compassionate care ensured that Jayeda received timely and effective treatment, helped restore her health, and brought renewed hope to her family.

According to the treating physician, Jayeda's right-sided submandibular abscess requires urgent surgical treatment through incision and drainage to remove the infected pus and prevent the infection from spreading. With timely surgery and proper medical care, the pain, swelling, fever, and difficulty moving her neck and opening her mouth are expected to improve significantly, allowing her to return to normal daily activities. Early treatment will also help prevent permanent tissue damage and ensure a full recovery. However, if left untreated, the infection could spread deeper into the neck, causing severe swelling, destruction of surrounding tissues, breathing difficulties, and serious bloodstream infection. In severe cases, these complications can become life-threatening, making urgent surgical intervention essential to protect her health and well-being.
