Jesmin Akter is a caring and resilient 32-year-old mother who has always prioritized the well-being of her family despite their financial struggles. Her husband, Mizanur Rahman (37), is the sole earner of the family and makes only about BDT 6,000 per month through sharecropping, which is barely enough to support Jesmin and their two daughters, Lima Akter (15) and Zidni Akter (7). During her 39th week of pregnancy, Jesmin developed severe abdominal pain and reduced fetal movement, and doctors diagnosed her with complete placenta previa and fetal distress, a life-threatening condition for both mother and baby. Mrs. Jesmin Akter, a 32-year-old expectant mother at 39 weeks of pregnancy, was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital and Diagnostic Center on 11 June 2026 with complaints of reduced fetal movements, severe lower abdominal pain, and marked tenderness. Following an emergency medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with Placenta Previa with Fetal Distress, a critical condition that posed a serious risk to the lives of both the mother and her unborn baby. Considering the severity of her condition, the medical team performed an emergency Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) on the same day. The surgery was successful, resulting in the safe delivery of the baby and preventing potentially life-threatening complications for both the mother and the newborn. During the following four days, both mother and baby remained under close medical observation and received comprehensive postoperative care, necessary medications, regular monitoring, and continuous medical support. Their condition improved steadily throughout the recovery period, and the surgical wound healed satisfactorily. On 14 June 2026, both mother and baby were discharged from the hospital in a stable and improved condition. Today, both mother and newborn are recovering well. With proper follow-up care and adherence to medical advice, they are expected to make a full recovery and return to a healthy, normal life. Any delay in surgical intervention could result in catastrophic maternal bleeding, fetal hypoxia, intrauterine fetal death, severe maternal morbidity, or even maternal and neonatal mortality. Therefore. emergency LUCS is the only appropriate and life-saving treatment in this situation.
