George is the firstborn and only child of Penina Adhiambo, a single mother. They live with George’s grandmother, who is a widow, and the family has very limited financial resources. Penina occasionally earns a small income by cleaning and washing clothes for neighbours to help provide for her son. Despite these challenges, George is normally a cheerful and playful child who enjoys playing with toys. George had been in good health until the 6th, when his mother noticed that he was feeding poorly, crying excessively, and experiencing shortness of breath. She sought assistance from a Community Health Promoter, who advised her to take him to hospital. On arrival, George developed significant difficulty breathing and was immediately nebulized, which helped stabilize him. Investigations were conducted, and he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia. Treatment was initiated promptly

George came into the facility with history of shortness of breathe crying alot and not feeding.He was nebulized with ventolin and normal saline afterwhich he was put on antibiotics and antpyretics to curb the fevers.George responded well to the treatment and was later discharged on oral medications to continue treatment at home.Currently he has recovered fully and has regained his normal life.

George was diagnosed with severe pneumonia complicated by bronchospasm, resulting in significant breathing difficulty and poor feeding. His condition required urgent treatment, including nebulization to relieve airway narrowing, appropriate medication, and close monitoring. His improvement by the second day, with easier breathing and improved breastfeeding, is encouraging. His prognosis is favourable.
