Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Nakowa Specialist Hospital Maiduguri

15 Lagos St, Maiduguri 600282, Borno, Nigeria

Background

A 15-year-old girl, who is an orphan, lives with her aunt and goes to junior secondary school. She dreams of becoming a doctor. Lately, she's been having trouble peeing, and it hurts, with blood in her urine.

Medical history

Shatu's vitals were taken by the Nurse before her file was sent to the doctor. After examining her, the doctor sent her to the lab for test. After diagnosis, the doctor recommended a course of treatment and now Shatu is well on her way to full recovery. The child has improved, feeling great, and the family is grateful.

Prognosis

It is essential to diagnose and treat pyelonephritis promptly, as untreated or severe cases can lead to kidney damage or other complications. Treatment usually involves antibiotics and supportive care to alleviate symptoms and prevent further complications. If left untreated, pyelonephritis may cause kidney damage, sepsis, abscess formation, hypertension, and other complications.
