Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pregnancy

The patient is a 38-week and 3-day pregnant woman, gravida 1, who presented with severe oligohydramnios, a condition in which the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby is below the normal level, potentially affecting fetal movement and oxygen supply. Due to this complication, the fetus is at risk of developing fetal distress, which is a sign of inadequate oxygenation or compromised well-being, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Background

Most. Roksana Akter is a gentle, pious, and hopeful young woman who dreams of safely welcoming her first child and building a better future for her family. She lives with her husband, Sobuj Mondol, her elderly parents-in-law, Abed Mondol and Shefali Begum, and her younger sister-in-law, Shapla Akter, all of whom depend on her husband's small monthly income of only 6,000 BDT, making the cost of an emergency cesarean section impossible to afford. After developing lower abdominal pain, persistent watery discharge, and reduced fetal movements, doctors diagnosed her with severe oligohydramnios, a dangerous condition that places her unborn baby at immediate risk. Without timely surgery, the baby could suffer from severe fetal distress, lack of oxygen, or stillbirth, while Roksana could face life-threatening complications such as prolonged labor, severe bleeding, and infection. After learning about Helpster Charity through a relative, the family is now seeking support to ensure a safe delivery and save the lives of both mother and baby.

Medical history

Most. Roksana Akter was admitted to the hospital on 13.06.2026 with a 38-week-and-3-day pregnancy complicated by severe oligohydramnios. Due to the risks associated with her condition, an LUCS was performed on the same day. The operation was successful, and the baby was delivered safely. Following the surgery, both mother and baby received appropriate medical treatment, close monitoring, and quality nursing care, resulting in a smooth recovery and stable condition. She was discharged from the hospital in good health on 16.06.2026.

Prognosis

The recommended treatment for her is LUCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby promptly and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation, which can lead to permanent brain damage or even death. The mother may also face life-threatening infections and other serious complications.
