About pregnancy
Honufa Akter has been diagnosed with a 37-week single viable pregnancy with breech presentation, meaning her baby is alive and healthy but positioned feet- or buttocks-first instead of the normal head-down position for delivery. As she approached full-term pregnancy, she developed labor pain and other symptoms that required urgent medical attention. Breech presentation increases the risk of complications during labor and delivery, making the pregnancy high-risk for both mother and baby.

Background
Honufa Akter is a devoted 37-year-old mother who has worked hard to care for her family despite living in extreme financial hardship with her husband, Nasir Uddin, and their daughter, Sarmin Akter. Her husband earns only 7,000 BDT per month as a day labourer, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of emergency surgery and hospital care. When Honufa developed labor pain and was found to be carrying a breech baby at 36 weeks of pregnancy, doctors identified the situation as a medical emergency requiring urgent delivery. Without timely treatment, both mother and baby could have faced serious complications, including obstructed labor, severe bleeding, birth injury, or even loss of life. After learning about Helpster Charity through Volunteer Masud Rana and other beneficiaries, the family found hope for the lifesaving support needed to ensure a safe delivery for both mother and child.
Medical history
Honufa Akter was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 07-06-2026 with complaints of lower abdominal pain, per vaginal discharge, and labor pain at 36 weeks of pregnancy. After admission, she underwent clinical evaluation and necessary investigations, including ultrasonography (USG) of the pregnancy profile and CBC. Based on the findings, she was diagnosed with a 36-week pregnancy with breech presentation and active labor. Considering the emergency nature of her condition, the treating doctors advised an urgent Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) under spinal anesthesia. She received appropriate hospital management, monitoring, and surgical treatment to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. Following successful treatment and postoperative care, her condition improved, and she was discharged from the hospital on 10-06-2026 with advice for follow-up and continued recovery care.
Prognosis
Doctors recommend Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) to safely deliver Honufa's baby because of the breech presentation. The surgery is expected to reduce the risks associated with abnormal fetal positioning and provide the safest outcome for both mother and child. With timely surgical intervention and proper post-operative care, Honufa is expected to recover well and welcome a healthy newborn. If left untreated, the breech presentation could lead to prolonged or obstructed labor, severe bleeding, birth injury, distress to the baby, or even loss of life for both mother and child. Therefore, urgent LUCS is essential to ensure a safe delivery and protect the lives of both patients.
