Jeasmin Akter, a 19-year-old pregnant woman, was admitted with amenorrhea for 38 weeks and lower abdominal pain for 1 day. Clinical assessment and ultrasonography confirmed a 38+ weeks pregnancy with breech presentation, meaning the baby was positioned feet-first instead of head-first. Because of the abnormal fetal position and her previous obstetric history, her condition was considered high-risk and required urgent medical intervention. Without timely treatment, there was a significant risk to the health and safety of both the mother and the baby.

Jeasmin Akter is a caring and resilient 19-year-old mother who dreams of raising her daughter, Sohana Akter, in a safe and healthy environment despite the family's difficult circumstances. She lives with her husband, Mohammad Sawon, a hosiery worker earning only 8,000 BDT per month, and their young daughter, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of emergency surgery and hospital care. When Jeasmin developed labor pain at 38 weeks of pregnancy, doctors discovered that her baby was in a breech position, creating a high-risk situation for both mother and child. Without urgent treatment, the condition could lead to obstructed labor, severe bleeding, birth injury, or even the loss of both mother and baby. After learning about Helpster Charity through Volunteer Masud Rana and other beneficiaries, the family found hope for the lifesaving support needed to ensure a safe delivery and a brighter future for their growing family.
Medical history
Jeasmin Akter was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 11/06/2026 with 38+ weeks pregnancy, lower abdominal pain, and breech presentation. After clinical evaluation and ultrasonography, she was diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy requiring immediate intervention. The treating doctor advised an emergency Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) under spinal anesthesia to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. The surgery was performed successfully, and she received postoperative treatment, including medications, intravenous fluids, pain management, antibiotics, and regular monitoring. Her condition gradually improved, and she was discharged from the hospital on 14/06/2026 with advice for follow-up care and necessary medications.
Prognosis
Doctors recommend Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) to safely deliver Jeasmin's baby because of the breech presentation and her previous delivery history. The surgery is expected to reduce the risk of complications during childbirth and provide the safest outcome for both mother and baby. With timely surgical intervention and proper post-operative care, Jeasmin is expected to recover well and care for her newborn without major health concerns. If left untreated, the abnormal position of the baby could lead to prolonged or obstructed labor, severe bleeding, distress to the baby, birth injury, or even loss of life for both mother and child.
