Severe pneumonia is a life-threatening complication of a lung infection where the tiny air sacs in your lungs fill with fluid or pus. It causes a severe drop in blood oxygen levels and puts immense strain on vital organs, requiring immediate hospitalization and intensive medical care. Anaemia occurs when your body lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to effectively carry oxygen to its tissues, but the deficit is small. Hemoglobin levels typically fall between 10.0 and 11.9 g/dL in women, and 10.0 and 12.9 g/dL in men. Because it is mild, it may cause no symptoms at all, or only subtle fatigue.

Background
Keyden is a three-month-old baby living with her parents in a rural village. At this young age, she depends entirely on her family for nutrition, protection, healthcare, and all her daily needs. The family relies on a small-scale business as their primary source of income. The modest earnings are mainly used to meet basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, making it difficult to afford unexpected medical expenses. Keyden was brought to the hospital by her mother after developing a severe illness characterized by cough, fever, difficulty breathing, poor feeding, persistent vomiting, and loss of appetite for several days. Her condition progressively worsened, leaving her weak, irritable, and unable to feed adequately. The breathing difficulties became more pronounced, causing significant distress and concern to her parents. Due to her young age and worsening symptoms, there were fears that her condition could become life-threatening without urgent medical intervention. Following clinical examination and laboratory investigations, Keyden was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and anaemia. Owing to the seriousness of her condition, she was admitted for treatment, close monitoring, supportive care, and further investigations to ensure a full recovery.
Medical history
Keyden brought to the hospital by her mother with complains of; difficult in breathing, cough, fever, vomiting and loss of appetite for the last three days. Based on laboratory findings, he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and was admitted for treatment and further investigation. Was given; I.v Xpen, I.v gentamicin, I.v Pcm . He responded well to medication and discharged home on good condition.
Prognosis
Keyden is a three-month-old infant diagnosed with severe pneumonia and anaemia. At this young age, severe pneumonia is considered a medical emergency because infants have immature immune systems and can deteriorate quickly without prompt treatment. Keyden requires close medical monitoring, appropriate antibiotics if a bacterial infection is suspected, oxygen therapy if needed, adequate nutrition, and supportive care. The prognosis for Keyden depends on the severity of the infection, nutritional status, presence of other illnesses, and how quickly treatment is received. With early diagnosis, proper medical care, and good response to treatment, many infants with severe pneumonia recover fully
