Most. Sumi is a 37-week-and-3-day pregnant woman, gravida 2, para 1, who presented with a breech presentation, a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its buttocks or feet pointing downward instead of the usual head-down position. Due to this complication, the fetus is at risk of developing fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury, and head entrapment, which may require immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Background
Most. Sumi is a gentle and hardworking mother who dreams of raising her children to have a brighter future despite living in extreme poverty. She lives with her husband, their 2-year-old son, and her elderly parents-in-law in a fragile home, where her husband's income of only BDT 6,000 per month is barely enough to provide food for the family, leaving them unable to afford the cost of emergency maternity care. Doctors have diagnosed her unborn baby with a breech presentation, a condition that places both mother and baby at serious risk, and without timely treatment, it could lead to obstructed labor, fetal distress, lack of oxygen to the baby, severe bleeding, stillbirth, or even the loss of both mother and child. After learning about Helpster Charity through a leaflet, the family found hope during one of the most difficult moments of their lives. With timely medical intervention, Sumi has the chance to safely welcome her baby, recover, and continue caring for her young son and elderly family members.
Medical history
Most. Sumi was admitted to the hospital on 04.06.2026 with a 37-week-and-3-day pregnancy complicated by a breech presentation. Considering the risks associated with this condition, an LUCS was performed on the same day under spinal anesthesia. The operation was successful, and a healthy baby was delivered safely. Following the surgery, both mother and baby received appropriate medical management and nursing care, resulting in a stable recovery without complications. Their condition improved steadily, and they were discharged from the hospital in a safe and satisfactory condition on 07.06.2026.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for Sumi is LSCS under spinal anesthesia, which is considered the safest and most effective option for delivering a baby in a breech presentation. Early surgical intervention can significantly reduce the risk of complications and improve outcomes for both the mother and the baby. With timely treatment, the baby is expected to be delivered safely and recover well. However, if delivery is delayed, serious complications may occur, including fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth trauma, and head entrapment during labor. Therefore, prompt surgical management is strongly recommended to ensure the safety and well-being of both the mother and the child.
