A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Primarily caused by E. coli bacteria entering the urinary tract, it leads to symptoms like pain when urinating, frequent urgency, cloudy/bloody urine, and lower abdominal pain. UTIs are commonly treated with antibiotics. A severe UTI, often indicating a kidney infection (pyelonephritis) or sepsis, presents with intense symptoms beyond bladder discomfort, including high fever, severe flank/back pain, nausea, vomiting, and chills. Immediate medical attention is required to prevent sepsis or renal damage.

Background
Salisu is a 14-year-old boy from a modest family. He enjoys helping his parent all the time. He loves reading Quran and plays with his younger siblings. Salisu dreams of becoming a health care worker in the future so he can care for sick children in her community. He presented with high-grade fever, lower abdominal pain, and painful urination for 3 days. He also had frequent urination, urgency, and occasional blood-stained urine. His parents noted that he was lethargic and complained of back pain at times. He was seen, thoroughly evaluated and diagnosed with severe urinary tract infection.
Prognosis
