Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections

Severe pneumonia is a serious lung infection in which the air sacs of the lungs become filled with infection and fluid, making it difficult for the child to breathe properly. As a result, the child may develop a high fever, persistent cough, rapid breathing, chest indrawing, and increasing difficulty in getting enough oxygen. Because of the illness, the child often becomes weak, loses appetite, and is unable to eat or drink enough, which further affects recovery.

Background

Odrima Barua Orthy is a cheerful and affectionate 3-year-old girl who lives with her parents, her twin sister Odrija, and her elder brother Arthik in a loving family of five. Her father is the family's only earning member, working as a village tailor with a very limited income that is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, medicines, oxygen therapy, and emergency treatment for both young twins. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Abu Sayeed, the family sought assistance in the hope of saving Odrima's life. Despite their best efforts, they have no savings and cannot continue her treatment without financial support. Without timely treatment, severe pneumonia may rapidly progress to respiratory failure, bloodstream infection (sepsis), lung complications, multi-organ failure, and other life-threatening complications that could permanently affect her health or even result in death.

Medical history

Odrima Barua Orthy, a 3-year-old girl, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 16.06.2026 through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed with high fever, cough, breathing difficulty, and severe pneumonia. She received inpatient treatment, including close monitoring, medications, nutritional support, and supportive care. After showing significant improvement, she was discharged on 17.06.2026 in stable condition with medications, home care advice, and follow-up instructions. Her treatment was fully supported by Helpster Charity, and her family sincerely thanks Helpster, volunteer Abu Sayeed, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Orion Hospital for their compassionate care and generous support.

Prognosis

The treating doctors have recommended immediate hospital admission for close monitoring, treatment of fever, symptom management, nutritional support, necessary laboratory investigations, supportive care, and regular follow-up to ensure proper recovery. With timely treatment and careful medical supervision, most children with severe pneumonia recover well, breathing gradually improves, the infection resolves, and they can safely return to their normal daily activities. However, if treatment is delayed or not provided, the infection may rapidly progress to severe respiratory failure, bloodstream infection, or dysfunction of multiple organs, resulting in life-threatening complications or even death.
