Nusrat Jahan has been diagnosed with Peri-tonsillar Abscess. A Peri-tonsillar Abscess is a serious infection that typically develops as a complication of recurrent tonsillitis, leading to the accumulation of pus in the tissues surrounding the tonsils. This condition can cause severe throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, and significant discomfort while speaking or eating.
Background
Nusrat Jahan is a bright and determined 12-year-old girl who loves reading books and dreams of completing her education despite her family's financial struggles. She lives with her parents and younger brother, and her father is a poor farmer whose limited income is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of her treatment. She has been suffering from a painful throat infection for several months, and without timely treatment, the infection may spread to the surrounding tissues, making it difficult to swallow or breathe and potentially leading to life-threatening complications. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Dr. Jony and Bablu Abdullah, who guided them to seek support for her treatment.
Medical history
Nusrat Jahan was admitted to the hospital on June 26, 2026, after being diagnosed with a Peritonsillar Abscess. She underwent successful surgery the following day. After receiving two days of post-operative care, she was discharged in good health. Upon her discharge, her father and mother came to the hospital to take her home. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, Jumuna Clinic, and Bablu Abdullah for their compassionate treatment, care, and unwavering support throughout her recovery. Nusrat's mother was especially grateful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster, which significantly eased the family's burden during this difficult time. She sincerely thanked everyone involved for their kindness and generosity.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctor, incision and drainage of the peritonsillar abscess with tonsillectomy is the recommended treatment to remove the collection of pus, eliminate the source of infection, and prevent future episodes. The surgery is expected to relieve her throat pain, restore her ability to swallow and eat normally, reduce the risk of recurrent infections, and allow her to return to school and her daily activities. However, if left untreated, the infection may spread to the deep tissues of the neck or bloodstream, causing severe infection, blockage of the airway, difficulty breathing, and other potentially life-threatening complications.
