Most. Sayma Akter is suffering from a malunited supracondylar fracture of the right humerus, resulting in difficulty performing daily activities with her right hand. A supracondylar fracture is a break in the upper arm bone just above the elbow joint and is the most common type of elbow fracture in children, typically caused by a fall onto an outstretched hand. Because her fracture has healed in an improper position, she has developed functional impairment of her right upper limb. If left untreated, this condition may lead to complications such as cubitus varus , tardy ulnar nerve palsy, recurrent fractures, elbow instability, restricted range of motion, and long-term impairment of arm function.

Background
Most. Sayma Akter is a bright, polite, and determined little girl who dreams of becoming a teacher, but since her fall seven months ago, she has struggled to use her right hand and can no longer enjoy playing or studying like other children. She lives with her parents, elder sister Shamsunnahar Sathi, and elder brother Ibrahim Islam, all of whom depend on her father Sayer Ali's small monthly income of only 6,000 BDT earned by driving a van, making surgery and hospital expenses impossible to afford. Because the fracture healed in the wrong position, she now has difficulty performing everyday activities, and without corrective surgery, she may suffer permanent deformity, reduced arm function, chronic pain, and lifelong disability. Her parents are deeply worried that their daughter may lose the chance to live a normal childhood and achieve her dream. After learning about Helpster Charity through a medical staff member, the family is humbly seeking support to give Sayma the opportunity to regain full use of her arm and return to school.
Medical history
Most. Sayma Akter was admitted on 19.06.2026 with a malunited supracondylar fracture of the right humerus. She underwent a successful Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) surgery on the same day to correct the deformity and stabilize the fracture. Following the operation, she received appropriate medical management, pain control, antibiotics, regular wound care, and nursing support, which contributed to her steady recovery. Her postoperative condition remained stable, and no complications were observed. As her overall condition improved satisfactorily, she was discharged safely on 23.06.2026 with advice for follow-up, medication, physiotherapy, and proper limb care to ensure complete recovery.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for Most. Sayma Akter is a corrective osteotomy to restore proper alignment of the elbow joint and improve the function of her right arm. With timely surgery followed by appropriate postoperative care and rehabilitation, she is expected to recover well and gradually return to her normal daily activities. However, if treatment is delayed, the malunited fracture may lead to progressive complications, including cubitus varus, tardy ulnar nerve palsy, recurrent fractures, elbow instability, restricted range of motion, persistent functional impairment, and long-term disability of the affected arm.
