Md. Fahim has been diagnosed with Acute Gastroenteritis with Moderate to Severe Dehydration secondary to Enteric Fever. Acute gastroenteritis is a serious infection of the stomach and intestines that causes severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and dehydration, while enteric fever is a bacterial infection that leads to prolonged high fever, weakness, and poor appetite. Due to frequent watery diarrhea, high-grade fever, abdominal pain, and poor oral intake, Md. Fahim has developed moderate to severe dehydration, making him weak and placing him at risk of serious complications.

Background
Md. Fahim is a polite, hardworking, and determined 15-year-old Bangladeshi boy who studies in Class Eight and dreams of becoming a teacher. His father is the family's only earning member and struggles to support the household by farming leased land, but poor harvests often leave the family in debt, making it impossible to afford the cost of Fahim's hospitalization and treatment. His prolonged fever, severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, dehydration, and weakness have left him unable to attend school or help his family, causing great concern for his parents. Doctors have warned that if his enteric fever with acute watery diarrhea and dehydration is not treated promptly, it may progress to severe dehydration, bloodstream infection (sepsis), intestinal perforation, shock, multiple organ failure, and even death. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Md. Younus, giving them hope that Fahim can receive the life-saving treatment he urgently needs and return to a healthy life and continue his education
Medical history
Md. Fahim was admitted to Orion Hospital on 03 June 2026 through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed with acute gastroenteritis, moderate to severe dehydration, and enteric fever, causing high fever, frequent watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, and weakness. He received hospitalization, intravenous fluids, antibiotics, nutritional support, supportive care, and close medical monitoring, responding well to treatment. He was discharged in stable condition on 12 June 2026 with medications, dietary advice, and follow-up instructions. His family sincerely thanks Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers, and the medical team at Orion Hospital for their generous financial support, compassionate care, and successful treatment.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctor, immediate hospitalization, intravenous fluid therapy, rehydration, antibiotics, nutritional support, supportive care, and close medical monitoring are essential to treat Md. Fahim's acute gastroenteritis, enteric fever, and moderate to severe dehydration. With timely treatment, his diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain are expected to improve, dehydration will be corrected, and his strength and appetite will gradually return, allowing him to resume his normal daily activities. However, if left untreated, his condition may rapidly progress to severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, septicemia (bloodstream infection), shock, intestinal perforation, multi-organ failure, and even death. Early medical intervention is therefore critical to prevent these life-threatening complications and ensure a safe recovery.
