Maulid A., 12

Maulid is a 12-year-old Grade 7 pupil and the eldest of three children living with his guardian in a rural village. He is hardworking, respectful, and enjoys school, football, and helping with household and farming activities. His guardian depends on small-scale farming, earning about KSh 1,000 per month, and the family lives in a two-room mud house without electricity, relying on borehole water. Despite these hardships, Maulid dreams of becoming a teacher. One week before admission, Maulid developed a high fever accompanied by chills, profuse night sweats, progressive weakness, loss of appetite, and poor feeding. His condition worsened steadily, leaving him extremely weak, fatigued, and unable to perform his normal daily activities. He also developed generalized body pains, dizziness, and increasing lethargy, causing great concern to his guardian. Unable to afford treatment, the guardian became distressed until a hospital administrator referred him to Helpster Charity. Through the program, Maulid was enrolled for medical support and admitted for comprehensive evaluation, close monitoring, and treatment due to the severity of his illness. He remains under medical supervision as he continues to receive appropriate care.

Maulid was admitted to Al Ihsaan Health Centre with severe malaria complicated by hypoglycemia, a serious condition that required immediate medical attention. Upon admission, he was assessed by the medical team and started on emergency treatment to correct his low blood sugar levels. He received intravenous glucose, antimalarial medication, intravenous fluids, and close monitoring of his vital signs and blood glucose levels. Nutritional support and nursing care were also provided to help restore his strength and promote recovery. Through the support of Helpster Charity Organization, Maulid was able to receive timely treatment and comprehensive medical care without financial burden to his guardian. During his hospital stay, his fever subsided, blood sugar levels normalized, and his appetite gradually improved. He became more active, regained strength, and was able to feed well again. After several days of treatment and close observation, Maulid made a good recovery and was discharged in a stable condition with follow-up advice. His guardian expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity Organization and Al Ihsaan Health Centre for their compassionate support and lifesaving medical care, which helped restore Maulid's health and gave him an opportunity to continue his education and daily activities.

Maulid presented with severe malaria complicated by hypoglycaemia, a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment. He was promptly admitted for intravenous antimalarial therapy, correction of low blood sugar, supportive care, and close monitoring. Following treatment, his condition will improve steadily.
