Hisham is an 8-year-old boy in Grade 4 and the first-born in a family of six children living with his guardian in a rural village. He is cheerful, respectful, hardworking, and enjoys school, football, and helping with household and farming activities. The family depends on small-scale farming, earning about KSh 1,000 per month, and lives in a two-room mud house without electricity, relying on borehole water. Despite these hardships, Hisham dreams of becoming a doctor. Hisham remained well until he developed a severe frontal headache, dizziness, high fever with excessive sweating, persistent cough, and increasing difficulty in breathing, particularly at night. Over the following days, he became progressively weak, lethargic, lost his appetite, and was unable to participate in his normal daily activities, causing great concern to his guardian. He was rushed to the hospital, where his guardian became distressed after realizing he could not afford the cost of treatment. A hospital administrator referred the family to Helpster Charity Organization, through which Hisham was enrolled for medical support. Following clinical assessment, the severity of his condition warranted admission for comprehensive investigations, close monitoring, and appropriate treatment. He remains under medical supervision as he continues to recover.

Hisham was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and was admitted to Al Ihsaan Health Centre for urgent medical care. He received comprehensive treatment that included intravenous antibiotics, oxygen therapy to support his breathing, fluids, close monitoring by healthcare workers, and other supportive medications to control fever and prevent complications. Severe pneumonia often requires prompt antibiotic treatment and respiratory support to improve oxygen levels and fight the infection. Through the support of Helpster Charity Organisation, Hisham was able to access the necessary treatment and medical services without interruption. After completing treatment, his condition gradually improved, with reduced fever, easier breathing, improved appetite, and restored strength. He was later discharged in stable condition and continues to recover well. Hisham and his family are deeply grateful to Helpster Charity Organisation and Al Ihsaan Health Centre for the timely support that helped save his life and give him hope for a healthy future.

With appropriate medical care, including antibiotics, oxygen therapy if needed, fever management, adequate nutrition, fluids, and close monitoring, the infection can be controlled and the lungs can recover fully. As treatment takes effect, the child's breathing improves, fever subsides, appetite returns, and strength gradually increases, allowing the child to resume normal daily activities, school attendance, and healthy growth and development. However, if severe pneumonia is left untreated or treatment is delayed, the infection can rapidly worsen and become life-threatening. Hisham's prognosis is good
