Lamia Akter is a bright and determined 14-year-old girl who dreams of continuing her education and building a better future despite her family's difficult circumstances. She lives with her parents and her 5-year-old younger sister in fragile conditions without a permanent home, where her father is the only earning member, working as a day laborer with a monthly income of only BDT 8,000, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of her medical treatment while meeting their daily needs. She has been diagnosed with acute viral hepatitis, and without timely treatment, the infection could cause severe liver damage, liver failure, bloodstream infection (sepsis), bleeding complications, or other potentially life-threatening conditions. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Masud Rana, giving them hope when they had no other way to pay for her treatment. With timely medical care, Lamia has the opportunity to recover fully, return to school, and continue pursuing her dreams.

Lamia Akter was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 17/06/2026 with complaints of yellow discoloration of the skin and eyes, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. After clinical assessment and investigations, she was diagnosed with Acute Viral Hepatitis. During her hospital stay, she received conservative treatment, including supportive medications, fluid management, nutritional support, and close monitoring of her condition. Necessary investigations such as Liver Function Test (LFT), HBsAg, and Ultrasonography of the Whole Abdomen were performed. Her condition gradually improved with treatment, and she was discharged on 22/06/2026 with medical advice, prescribed medications, and follow-up instructions for continued recovery.

According to the treating doctor, hospitalization with conservative treatment, including intravenous fluids, nutritional support, medicines, and close monitoring, is essential to allow Lamia's liver to recover and prevent complications. With timely medical care and regular follow-up, her liver function is expected to improve gradually, allowing her to make a full recovery and return to her normal daily activities. However, if left untreated, the infection may progress to severe liver damage, acute liver failure, severe bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy (brain dysfunction), bloodstream infection (sepsis), multiple organ failure, and other potentially life-threatening complications.
