Two-year-old Peter is the youngest of four children, living with his family in a two-room apartment in Uke. His father earns about 35,000 naira a month as a security guard, stretching every naira to feed six people. When Peter developed a fever and cough, his parents first tried a local chemist, all they could afford. But he only grew weaker and paler. At the clinic, tests revealed severe malaria and bronchopneumonia, a dangerous combination for a child so young. Peter was admitted immediately for urgent medical care.

Peter Reuben a two year old child was presented by his mother to the facility with complaints of loss of appetite, high body temperature and weakness. Upon physical examination, the child was observed to be visibly weak, pale and ill looking. Laboratory investigations were conducted and he was diagnosed with Severe malaria and Broncho Pneumonia. He was immediately admitted for 3 days and treated accordingly with the antibiotics and antimalarials. His clinical condition improved and he was subsequently discharged home with medications. Peter Reuben is a 2 year old diagnosed with Severe malaria and Broncho Pneumonia for this child condition, upon presentation, the prognosis is guarded due to the severity of both illness and considering the child's age. The risk of morbidity and mortality is high without timely and appropriate treatment. However, with timely diagnosis and aggressive treatment, the prognosis maybe good and full recovery is expected without long term sequelae. Delayed treatment may increase complications and further prolong recovery.
